The Newburgh Free Academy wrestling team crowned two champions on Thursday at the Mid-Hudson Tournament at Arlington High School.

Will Soto won the 101-pound championship with a 12-4 win over Valley Central’s E.J. Vass, while Matthew Mercado defeated Wallkill’s Banda, who suffered an injury 3:15 into the match to win the 131-pound championship.

Christopher Leggett finished second when he was pinned in the 215-pound championship match by Xavier’s Charles Weidman in 1:11

Cooper Merli finished third at 108 pounds when he pinned Ward-Melville’s Dario Guglielmo.

Mateo Morell placed fifth at 160 pounds when he pinned FDR’s Liam Dakin in 57 seconds.
