PILOT seeks EV charging stations

Posted

The project Pilot Travel Center-EV Charging made an initial appearance on July 18 at the Town of Newburgh Planning Board. The proposal is to install two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the northwest corner of the existing parking area along Route 17K.

Engineer Justin Dates of Colliers Engineering & Design presented the project along with a proposed canopy for the charging stations. The canopy would be subject to a variance. Patrick Hines of MHE Engineering said an additional variance would be required with regards to the front yards of the property.

A prepared memo from MHE requested parking details, clarification on the removal of a curb island and shrubs and a parking analysis would also be requested. A referral to the Orange County Department of Planning would be needed as the project site sits adjacent to a state highway.
