In your otherwise excellent story on The Green, the new development coming soon to Newburgh’s East End, an important player was not mentioned: RUPCO.
RUPCO was the engine that powered this development. The Green could not have happened without tax credits, which became available because of the participation of RUPCO. It was already well-loved in our city as the developer of the East End I and East End II projects, which provide housing for our lower-income residents. RUPCO also poured several million dollars into turning a dilapidated Methodist church on Liberty Street into a gorgeous job-training facility, business incubator, and event space.
RUPCO’s accomplishments and its mission: “To create homes, support people and improve communities,” is one that all Newburghers should know about and cheer.
