Town of Newburgh opposes Central Hudson rate hike

Posted

The Newburgh Town Board unanimously voted Monday, August 28 to oppose the proposed delivery rate increase by Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation. As the Town of Newburgh is an area served by Central Hudson, the town board determined that these rate increases would lead to financial burden and hardships on the town residents.

According to resolution documents, Central Hudson had applied to the New York State Public Service Commission for an increase in its electricity delivery revenues by approximately $139.5 million and its natural gas delivery revenues by approximately $41.5 million. These proposed rates would go into effect starting on July 1, 2024 if approved.
