Town of Newburgh routs Minisink

The Town of Newburgh staved off elimination on Saturday when they routed Minisink, 30-18 at Port Jervis.

Newburgh fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning, but responded with three runs in the first and three more in the second to take a 6-4 lead.
Minisink retook the lead with eight runs in the top of the third inning, but Newburgh answered with 11 runs in the bottom of the third to take a 17-12 lead.

They never trailed again and added nine runs in the fifth inning to end the game after five innings by the 10-run rule.

Newburgh had been fighting through the consolation portion of Bracket A since opening the tournament on Wednesday and Thursday with a 10-8 loss to Pine Bush.

Pine Bush broke a 5-5 tie with five runs in the fifth inning to open the tournament with a win over Town of Newburgh at Port Jervis Little League.

The game started on Wednesday but could not be completed due to inclement weather and was suspended in the fifth inning and resumed on Thursday.

Newburgh answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to close the deficit to two runs.
Pine Bush led 5-2 after the first two innings, but Newburgh scored three runs in the third to tie the game at 5-5.

The Town of Newburgh rebounded from their tournament-opening loss with a 24-14 rout of Monroe-Woodbury on Friday at Goshen Little League.

Monroe-Woodbury led 12-10 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning when Newburgh erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning to take an 18-12 lead. Monroe-Woodbury answered with two in the top of the fifth, but Newburgh scored six more in the bottom of the inning to end the game by the 10-run rule.
