To call executive orders to take the Covid-19 vaccine “tyranny” is absolute bosh. (I would use stronger words but this is a family newspaper.) 

The REAL tyranny is the false narrative proclaimed by certain political leaders that taking the vaccine is only a personal decision.  They are the tyrants.  They have twisted a medical issue into a political issue that has to be responded to in a political manner. 

New York State once led the country in infections and deaths.  We are now among the states with the lowest incidence of the disease because those in executive positions have demanded it.  To call our executive leaders “king” and “queen” is beyond silly.  We voted them in to do the leadership job.  Those states that did not “mandate” the shots lead the nation in infections and deaths.  From 90 to 99 percent of the recent deaths are among the unvaccinated.  To choose not to take the vaccine is a death wish.  Six right wing commentators who opposed vaccination have themselves died of the disease.  To choose not to wear a mask is a murderous decision for a mask protects others in case the wearer is infected.  Yes there is tyranny.  Only it is those who follow non-responsible leaders. 

As he so often did, St. Paul shows the right way: “For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become helpers of one another. For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ If, however, you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.” (Galatians 5:13-15) 

So the bottom line is to ignore mandates and take the vaccine because it is a very proven protection against Covid and wear a mask when asked because it protects others. 

Away with all this as a political issue!
