UMBRA returns before New Windsor Planning Board

Posted

Developers of the former Anthony’s Pier 9 and Hanaford’s Marine appeared before the New Windsor Planning Board for site plan and special use permit review on Wednesday, April 27.

Anthony’s Pier 9 looks to have sound stages constructed and Hanaford’s Marine main usage will be for film equipment storage. These two buildings are to be managed by UMBRA Stages.

Two other properties along the New York State Route 9W corridor that UMBRA plans to use are the former used car lot and Tarsio Lanes buildings. These two sites are proposed to be constructed into other sound stages and storage spaces for UMBRA Stages. All four studio construction projects are represented by Dunn & Sgromo Engineers, PLLC.

UMBRA Stages are currently managed and operated by Newburgh residents Tony Glazer and Summer Crockett Moore. UMBRA Stages also operates their studios out of the City of Newburgh.

Several questions from board members were about hours of operation and staffing. Moore appeared before the members to address the questions and stated these two factors depend on the production that is in the space at the current time.

Moore and Glazer stated the former Anthony’s Pier 9 is site is currently being used for the filming of a new Peacock/NBC Universal series titled “Poker Face”.

A public hearing is to be set for a later date.
