The Newburgh City Council approved on Tuesday, May 28 for an agreement executed with Thrive Operations, LLC at the cost of $144,690. The council would also vote on a transfer of $547,823 from the city’s general fund to information systems for cloud migration and information technology consulting services. One council member voted no on the resolution.

City Information Technology Director Camile Mohammed told the council at the last work session that the city’s data center is outdated and is in need of an upgrade.

Mohammed reported to council that the city annually spends about $651,000 to maintain the city’s data center. City Manager Todd Venning concurred with the spending amount but with the agreement, he stated costs would drop under $400,000 saving the city a projected $260,000 a year. The migration to the cloud at the cost of $112,100 would save the city an expected $953,000 in purchasing and replacement of hardware for the data center and associated equipment costs.
