Vails Gate FD responds to early morning structure fire

Posted

In the early hours of June 22, the Vails Gate Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 8 Wagner Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames emanating from the garage area and immediately requested a second alarm and additional tankers.

Tankers from Washingtonville, Campbell Hall, Maybrook, Coldenham, and Salisbury Mills were dispatched to the scene to assist in the firefighting efforts. Engines from Newburgh, New Windsor, and West Point Fast Team also responded to the emergency.

New Windsor Police and EMS were on site to provide support, while firefighters used hand lines and tools to combat the blaze. A vehicle parked in the driveway suffered extensive fire damage.

Central Hudson was called in to cut power to the affected area, and the New Windsor ID Unit documented the scene with photographs. Deputy Orange County Fire Coordinator 36-15 and Fire Investigator 36-108 were also present to oversee the situation.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit. In the meantime, Coldenham stood by at the Vails Gate Firehouse with a ladder truck, and Winona Lake provided an engine for additional support.

Further details on the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined as investigations continue.
