Water plant hearing scheduled

The Newburgh Town Board voted on Monday, August 28 to set a public hearing for the Chadwick Lake Water Treatment Plant Project for the meeting of October 10 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Town Hall located at 1496 Route 300.

The reason for the hearing, according to a memo prepared, was due to the increase in costs for the Chadwick Lake Reservoir and Water Filtration Plant improvements. The costs for the project have increased to $2.62 million dollars compared to the $2.2 million previously estimated in 2021.

These improvements would help the town continue to deliver filtered water to the Consolidated Water District during the shutdown period of the Delaware Aqueduct. The shutdown has been delayed to 2024.
