The Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League playoffs began on Friday, and the Newburgh Knights advanced with a 9-8 win over the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Tigers on Friday.

The Knights play in Division 4 in the 12U age group.
Other teams still alive as of Sunday included the 13U, 14U and 15U Newburgh Red Storm teams.

Marlboro Marlins 7, Hudson Valley Hustle 5
Marlboro Marlins 12, Hudson Valley Hustle 2
The Marlboro Marlins finished the regular season on July 23 with a doubleheader sweep of the Hudson Valley Hustle at Young’s Field in Milton.

The Marlins finished the first game ahead by one run, put up three runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull out a two-run victory.

The Hustle got on the board first, but the Marlins responded with two runs in the second and added single runs in the third and fourth. The Hustle scored one in the third and three in the fifth.

The Marlins posted an eighth-run first inning in a four-inning win in the second game.

The Hustle scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Patterson Pirates 11, Hudson Valley Hustle 1
The Patterson Pirates scored in every inning on their way to a five-inning, 10-run win over the Hudson Valley Hustle on July 24 at Peckham Field.

The Hustle scored their lone run in the fourth inning.

First Round
No. 8 Newburgh Knights 12, No. 9 Larchmont-Mamaroneck Tigers 6
The Newburgh Knights scored eight runs in the third inning to advance in the playoffs with a win over Larchmont-Mamaroneck on Friday at New Windsor Little League.

The Tigers led, 4-3 after one inning before the Knights scored eight runs to take an 11-4 lead. Newburgh added another run in the fifth inning.

Newburgh Red Storm 1
The Newburgh Red Storm scored three runs in the first inning and held on for a one-run win in Game 1 of a doubleheader on July 23 at Crawford Town Park in Pine Bush.

Braden Algarin doubled and had an RBI and John Reilly singled and drove in a run. Logan Miller had two hits and an RBI for the Rebels.

The Rebels rebounded in the second game with a 10-run, five-inning win over the Red Storm. Tyler Ingalls had three hits and two RBIs and Easton Vellenga added two RBIs.

No. 6 Bryn Mawr Bulldogs 14, No. 3 Newburgh Red Storm 5
The Bryn Mawr Bulldogs scored seven runs in the seventh inning to blow the game open in an upset of the No. 3 Red Storm on Friday at Delano-Hitch Park in Newburgh.
Mike Esposito, Jr., had two hits for the Red Storm.

High School
Putnam Valley Tigers 3, Newburgh Red Storm 0
The Red Storm were limited to two hits and made six errors in the field in a shutout loss to the Putnam Tigers on July 24 at Union Field in Putnam Valley.

Nick Shala and Liam Lynch each had a hit for the Red Storm.

D3 Championship

First Round
No. 9 Newtown Nighthawks 9, No. 8 Newburgh Red Storm 1
The Newtown Rangers scored all their runs, including seven in the sixth inning to eliminate the Newburgh Red Storm from the playoffs on Saturday.

Joe Alicea had two hits and an RBI for the Red Storm.
