Applications accepted for Highland’s Universal Pre-K program

The Highland Central School District is pleased to announce that it will continue to offer its Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program next year. The District began accepting applications for the program on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

It is anticipated that there will be 80 UPK spots available for the 2024-2025 school year. The final number will be determined once the New York State budget is adopted. Spots will once again be assigned using a random lottery selection process. The program is NOT first come, first served.

The UPK application period will close on Friday, May 10, 2024. Applications are available online at www.highland-k12.org/Page/7001. Hard copies can also be picked up now until May 10 at the Superintendent’s Office, which is located at 320 Pancake Hollow Road, Mondays through Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A lottery selection will take place in May to determine which students are eligible to register for the program, which will start in September. The District will email each applicant after the lottery to let them know whether their student was selected or placed on the waiting list.

In order to be eligible for the UPK program, a child must be a resident of the Highland Central School District and turn four years old on or before December 1, 2024.
