Bernard Markman, 80, of Marlboro, New York, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at home of his son, Peter, in Highland, New York.

Born May 17, 1939 in Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Jack and Estelle (Siegelman) Markman.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years from 1957 to 1965. After that, Bernard worked for many years as a Manufacturing Sales Representative of fine jewelry. At the age of 60 he started a new career and became a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor and continued work in the field until he was 79 years old.

Bernie was a devoted and loyal friend up until the end of his life. Many of his friends were in his life since he was a child. They were his chosen family. He loved his sons Pete and Jeff with all his heart and was a great friend and father to them. His daughter-in-law, Christine, and grandchildren, Manny and Andee, were so happy and blessed to have him so close over the past four years. He attended all of the boys’ baseball games and befriended everyone in the bleachers. He never stopped missing his late wife, Edie, and kept in close contact with his stepdaughter, Liz.

Survivors include his two sons, Peter Markman and his wife, Christine of Highland, NY and Jeffrey Markman of Long Island, NY; his stepdaughter, Liz Forte of Babylon, NY; his grandchildren, Manny & Andee Markman of Highland, NY; and his step grandchildren, Bella & Marc Forte; his previous wife, Maddy Greenwald and her husband, Howie of Port Washington, NY; and numerous friends- too many to mention.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Edith Markman; and his brother, Paul Markman.
A memorial gathering will be held at a future date, yet to be determined by his family.
