Highland Public Library announces upcoming events

The Highland Public Library has announced a variety of exciting events coming up in the next few weeks. From learning new skills to relaxing and having fun, there is something for everyone.

Mahjong Volunteer Needed
The library is currently seeking a Mahjong volunteer to teach library staff and/or play against patrons. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Donna at ddavies@highlandlibrary.org or call 845.691.2275 x 206.

Computer Assistance
Every Thursday from 12 noon - 4 p.m., the library will offer computer assistance sessions. You can choose your time, but please note that sessions will be limited to 45 minutes.

Teen Board Games
On Thursday, March 30 from 3 - 4 p.m., teens are invited to come to the library for board games.

Babytime, Storytime
On Friday, March 31 at 11 - 11:30 a.m., the library is hosting a Babytime, Storytime event for children who are pre-walkers or crawlers. Babies aged 6 months to 23 months are welcome. Registration is required.

Yoga with Michelle

On Saturday, April 1st at 10 - 11 a.m., the library will be offering a yoga session with Michelle. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and the fee is $8.

Scam Prevention - Smart Seniors Program
Elder fraud is on the rise, and the Highland Public Library is partnering with the NYS Attorney General’s office to combat it. On Tuesday, April 4 from 1 - 3 p.m., the library will be offering a program on scam prevention for seniors.

Defensive Driving Class Library Fundraiser
On Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., the Highland Public Library will be hosting a live 6-hour NYS Department of Motor Vehicles approved defensive driving course. Participants will receive a workbook and a NYS Department of Motor Vehicles Driver Manual, and will be eligible for a minimum insurance reduction of 10% for THREE years in the base rate of Liability (Bodily Injury and Property Damage); Personal Injury Protection (No-Fault) and Collision. Participants will also qualify for a reduction of up to four points from their driving record for violations received during the 18 months prior to completion of this course. The fee for this program is $40 prepaid and $45 at the door. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the library. Registration is required.
