The Hudson Valley Renegades outlasted the Greenville Drive 15-12 in 12 innings Sunday afternoon at Fluor Field, capping a six-game road series win with the longest game the club has played in the Yankees era.

The 4-hour, 19-minute affair was Hudson Valley’s longest game since an Aug. 30, 2010, contest at Tri-City that ran 4:25, and just the fifth 12-inning game the Renegades have played since the Yankees became their parent club in 2021. The last came Aug. 11, 2023, a 9-7 win over Jersey Shore.

The win clinched Hudson Valley’s first six-game road series victory since taking one at Frederick from April 14-19. The Renegades are 2-3-2 in six-game road series this season.

Hudson Valley set a season high with 15 runs, its highest total since a 15-1 win at Asheville on April 26, 2025. All three of the Renegades’ extra-inning hits were two-run home runs, delivered by Enmanuel Tejeda, Maika Niu and David McCann. The four home runs Hudson Valley hit Sunday were its most in a game since a season-high seven on June 16 at Rome. Niu and McCann each drove in at least four runs.

Three Renegades — Kyle West, McCann and Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek — each tied the team record with seven at-bats in the game. It was the first time a Hudson Valley player had seven at-bats since Jared Serna on May 1, 2024, at Wilmington, and only the fourth instance of a Renegade reaching seven at-bats in a game since 2017.

Hudson Valley stole five bases Sunday, finishing the series with 29 steals in six games without being caught. The Renegades have 211 stolen bases this season, the second-most in a single season in franchise history behind the 2023 club, and are averaging 1.99 steals per game.

Left-hander Allen Facundo struck out nine over 4.1 innings but did not factor in the decision, allowing four runs on five hits with four walks. Facundo, who leads all Yankees minor leaguers with 127 strikeouts this season, has now failed to complete five innings in five straight starts dating to July 9 against Rome, though he has struck out seven or more batters three times in that stretch. He has walked at least four batters in four consecutive outings.

Hudson Valley improved to 16-10 all-time against Greenville in the regular season and 10-5 at Fluor Field, where the Renegades are averaging 8.6 runs per game all-time. The victory extended Hudson Valley’s winning streak to three games, its longest since a three-game run from July 19-21.

Friday and Saturday: Renegades pour it on
The series win was built on a pair of lopsided victories earlier in the week. On Saturday, Hudson Valley pounded out a season-high 17 hits — matching a mark set June 26 at Bowling Green — in an 8-2 win, with every starter in the lineup recording a hit and seven players posting multi-hit games: Core Jackson, Eric Genther, West, McCann, Willy Monteo, Robbie Burnett and Niu.

The Renegades also stole a season-high nine bases Saturday, tied for the second-most in a single game by the franchise since 2005 and their most since a franchise-record 11 steals on July 6, 2022, at Jersey Shore. Play was halted for 25 minutes in the top of the sixth because of lightning, the second such delay of the week.

Right-hander Luis Serna earned the win, striking out two over five shutout innings on nine ground-ball outs against a single fly out. It was his fourth outing this season of at least five innings without allowing a run, and his first since May 6 against Winston-Salem. Serna is tied for the South Atlantic League lead with 106 strikeouts and ranks second in innings pitched with 93.1.

West went 2-for-5 with his 19th home run of the season, moving him within three of the Renegades’ single-season home run record shared by Dan Grummitt (1999) and Tyler Hardman (2022), each with 22. His 69 RBIs lead the team and trail only Hardman’s 79 in 2022 for the single-season franchise mark. Genther extended his on-base streak to seven straight games, reaching three times and pushing his on-base percentage to .485 over that span.

Hudson Valley opened the series Friday with a 9-3 win, scoring nine unanswered runs after Greenville took an early 1-0 lead. Renegades pitching stranded 17 Drive runners, including the bases loaded twice, and held Greenville to 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position. Genther reached base four times, extending his on-base streak to six games, while shortstop Core Jackson stole two bases, giving him 32 on the season — three shy of the single-season franchise record of 35 shared by Cooper Bowman (2022) and Spencer Jones (2023).

Center fielder Maika Niu drove in three runs in his first professional game Friday, then followed with his first career multi-hit performance Saturday and a two-run, extra-inning homer Sunday.

Hudson Valley’s bullpen also turned in a strong week, with right-handers Brandon Decker, Hansel Rincon and Andrew Landry each riding scoreless streaks into the series.
