Spelling Bee winner honored

Last week Lily Prevost was honored by the Marlboro School Board as a Spelling Bee Winner.

By way of introduction, Superintendent Michael Rydell told the board that, “we are in the presence of one of our Spelling Bee Champions, Lily Prevost, a 5th grader at the Marlboro Elementary School.”

Rydell described the event.

“We had, for those who were not there, literally the most exciting Spelling Bee, back and forth between Lily and another young lady and remarkable words that they were spelling and sometimes you could tell there was a little guess involved, but they got it right. It kept going round after round; it was so exciting and Lily I have to say you both were so composed during that stressful time. It was beyond your years as a fifth grader and it was so remarkable how gracious you both were when you ultimately spelled the word correctly that won. She’s ready for the finals on February 7 and Lilly will be representing the Marlboro Central School District.”

Rydell thanked Lily for being at the school board meeting along with her family.
