For the past 11 years, St. Augustine’s has hosted a Thanksgiving Feast free to the public.
Rich Gorres, who has been a volunteer at every dinner, said it was quieter this year compared to last year when they served 300 meals, “and when we did it during covid we served 375 meals.” He promised they will be back next year.
Gorres said the volunteers come from, “Highland, New Paltz and I would really like to thank the Town of Lloyd Police for putting together and delivering about 50 bags of food. I give that department credit because they are very community orientated.”
Mark Schmidt has also been a volunteer since the beginning. He thanked Sal Timperio. of Sal’s Restaurant and Catering, for cooking all 26 turkeys.
“He’s got a rotating thing that can cook all of them at his restaurant and he brings them over here,” Schmidt said. “We break them down and slice them up, but we couldn’t do this without him.”
