Town of Lloyd hosts free spring shred event

The Town of Lloyd announce its upcoming Spring Shred event on Saturday, May 6, from 9 am to 12 noon. This event is a community-wide effort to help residents securely dispose of their confidential documents and protect themselves from identity theft.

The event will take place in the parking lot behind Town Hall, located at 12 Church Street, Highland. The community shred event is free and open to all residents of Lloyd and its surrounding areas.

During the event, residents can bring their unwanted paper documents, including white or colored paper, file folders, checkbooks, staples and paper clips, and small quantities of plastics including ID cards and credit cards. All documents will be safely and securely shredded on-site, and the shredded paper will be recycled.

However, the following items will not be accepted at the community shred event: hard drives, back up tapes, x-rays, videos, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, hazardous materials, syringes or needles, or any heavy metal objects such as nuts, bolts, or metal plates. As a reminder, paper is flammable and mixing with anything that sparks like a battery or heavy metal is very dangerous.

To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, there is a suggested limit of 3 garbage bags or 3 paper storage boxes (same size as copy paper comes in) per person.

For more information on the Lloyd Spring Shred event, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 845-691-2144.
