On Saturday, March 3, the Marlboro Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 91 Riverview Dr., at the Copart auto facility. The call came in at 9:25 a.m., prompting an immediate dispatch to the scene.

Multiple vehicles within the Copart facility were engulfed in flames. A second alarm was quickly transmitted, calling for additional resources. The Milton Fire Department responded by sending a tanker, and an ambulance was requested for standby duty.

The situation escalated as approximately 32 vehicles were ablaze, requiring a concerted effort from both Marlboro and Milton Fire Departments to contain and extinguish the fire. Firefighters battled the intense flames to prevent further damage to the surrounding area.

All crews involved in the operation were back in service by 2:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, prompting the Ulster County Fire Investigation Division and the Marlboro Police Department to launch an inquiry into the incident. Officials are working to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the massive vehicle fire.

During the incident, the Plattekill Fire Department stood by at the Marlboro Fire Department firehouse, ready to provide additional support if needed.

Acknowledging the teamwork and dedication of all involved, a statement released by the authorities expressed gratitude to personnel from the Ulster County 911 dispatchers, Marlboro and Milton Fire Departments, and Plattekill Fire Department for their invaluable assistance during the incident.
