Maybrook to host family movie night in the park
On Friday, June 14th the Village of Maybrook will be hosting our first of two-Family Movie Nights at the Frederick Myers Veterans Memorial Park.

The featured movie is “Wonka” a 2023 musical fantasy film. It tells the origin story of Willy Wonka, a character in the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, depicting his early days as a chocolatier, and serves as a prequel to the first film based on Dahl’s novel, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as the title character, with an ensemble cast including Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Grant.

Residents are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets and spend a family evening in the park.

Pine Bush Library hosts pet safety class

The Pine Bush Library is hosting a pet safety and first aid class on Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at the library community center, 227 Maple Ave, Pine Bush.

Maybrook VFW to host Father’s Day Dinner Dance
The Maybrook VFW will host a Father’s Day Dinner Dance on Saturday, June 15.

The event will feature music by DJ Kenny Lewis and a shrimp scampi meal. Dad is entitled to one free drink.

Admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Soulshine Market announces 3rd Annual Shinefest

Soulshine Market is excited to announce the return of its highly anticipated event, the 3rd Annual Shinefest, scheduled for June 15 at Bullville Park in the Town of Crawford. The vibrant music festival will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., promising a day filled with joy, music, and community spirit.

Shinefest is not just about music; it’s about making a meaningful impact. This year, the festival is dedicated to supporting the Humane Society of Walden. Every ticket purchase and donation will directly contribute to their mission of caring for animals in need.
Attendees can look forward to an exciting lineup of live music featuring talented local artists and bands. Performers include TJ & Co., Jacob Kantner, Prize Fighter, Kieran McGee, Caswyn Moon & Faith Kelly, SMITTIE, Route 66 featuring Jeff Selear, Spaghetti Eastern Music, Tom & Tommy Brendel, Kevin Thomas, Hec Vito, Sad Matt!, Dewey, Frank Rizz, and KB Kind.

In addition to the fantastic music, Shinefest will host a diverse array of local vendors offering unique crafts, natural goods, and services.
No festival is complete without delicious food, and Shinefest delivers with a mouthwatering selection of culinary delights from local vendors and food trucks. From savory to sweet, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

Families are encouraged to join in the fun, as Shinefest offers a range of engaging children’s activities such as a bounce house and arts and crafts, ensuring that every member of the community can partake in the celebration.

Upcoming events at the Josephine Louise Public Library

The Summer Reading Program registration will begin Monday, June 17. This year’s theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library!” The Walden Library offers programs for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, middle schoolers, teens, and adults. The Music in the Grove will open the season with the Pine Bush Community Band on Monday, June 24, 7 p.m.

BluCrush will perform on Wednesday, June 26, 6:30 p.m. The concert series takes place at Wooster Grove. Hank’s Franks Food Truck will be on site. Concerts will be held every Wednesday evening, 6:30 p.m. till dusk, in July and August. In the event of inclement weather concerts will be rescheduled in September.

Pine Bush Library offers Point Insurance Reduction Class
Motorists in Pine Bush and surrounding areas are encouraged to register for the Point Insurance Reduction Class offered by Pine Bush Library Community Center.

Participants stand to benefit from significant savings on vehicle insurance premiums and potential reductions in driving record points. By completing the course, drivers can save 10% on their vehicle liability, collision, and personal injury protection (PIP) insurance premiums for THREE YEARS. Additionally, they may qualify to reduce up to FOUR POINTS on their driving records.

The class will commence promptly on June 22, from 9 am to 3 pm at Pine Bush Library Community Center located at 227 Maple Ave. Registration is preferred and can be completed by contacting the Pine Bush Library at (845) 744-4265 ext. 2 or Michael Sweeting at (845) 407-1378 or (845) 920-0120.

The registration fees are as follows:
• Seniors 60+: $30 (Cash)
• Adults 18-59: $40 (Cash)
