WCC honors Lilly Ellison
Lilly Ellison is the winner of the Walden Community Council’s $750 “Community Service Award 2024.”
Having graduated from Valley Central High School in June, Lilly is now headed for Villanova University to study for a double major in real estate and finance.
As president of the Valley Central Volunteer Club, she set her goal to recruit students to volunteer at the Town of Montgomery Food Pantry. While the Scholarship Committee of the Walden Community Council does not consider financial need or the student’s grades, Lilly’s grades during high school have been top-notch! She created a service project titled WIGU, or “When I Grow Up,” founded to help her peers with their internships and guide them in future career choices.
A quote from Lilly’s winning essay is “Whether big or small, we must serve each other because we are all people, and that is what community means to me.”

The Walden Community Council is proud of Lilly and is pleased to give her this award.
