Barbara Anne (Metras) Pruschki of Montgomery; passed away peacefully in her home on Friday,  July 5, 2019.  She was 84.

Barbara was born July 15, 1934 in Burlington, Vermont and raised in a Navy family.  Her father, retired as Chief Warrant Officer, was stationed in multiple areas of the United States, to include Hawaii, New York and Vermont.  Barbara loved her time as a Navy family and the excitement of moves and new places.  When her family settled in Vermont, Barbara entered nursing school and finished her RN degree at the young age of 18.  Soon after entering the nursing profession, she met her husband Paul Pruschki in Burlington, Vermont.  They married and started a family, as Paul began a career in the banking industry.  They eventually settled in Montgomery and Barbara continued her career in the nursing profession while bringing seven wonderful children into the world.  They were truly her pride and joy.

Barbara was an incredibly strong woman that knew the value of hard work and the life of a care giver.  She spent over 45 years in nursing, and all knew that she was the best of best at what she did.  She also loved games, puzzles and anything that challenged her mind.  Thorough and methodic, she enjoyed new adventures, travel, and spending time with her children. To her four son-in-laws, she was affectionately known as “Big Mama.”

Barbara is survived by her sister, Patricia Dever, of Pinellas Park, FL; daughter Paula M. Meier and husband Kenny, of Walden; her son, Steven M. Pruschki and wife Marie, of Walden; her son David Pruschki and wife Cindy, of Seattle, WA; her daughter Gail Toth and husband, Steve of Walden, NY; her daughter Suzan Karinchak and husband, Steve of Walden; her son Paul C.
