Book characters on parade at Highland Elementary School

Grade 3 students at Highland Elementary School recently showcased their love of reading by participating in the school’s annual Character Parade. After a two-year absence caused by COVID, the event returned on May 26 with the youngsters—as well as their teachers—dressing as the heroes, protagonists, and supporting characters of some of their favorite books.

They then proceeded to stroll through each classroom, enthusiastically toting the books that had inspired them. Many literary giants representing both fiction and non-fiction genres made guest appearances, including Harry Potter, Tinkerbell, Albert Einstein, Junie B. Jones, Pete the Cat, and an assortment of princesses, superheroes, and athletes. The parade was a hit with participants and spectators alike!
