The Town of Marlborough will celebrate the grand opening of its newly expanded and remodeled Community Center, also known as the TOMVAC building, with an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 12, from 4: to 6 p.m.. The event will take place at the center’s location, 1520 Route 9W, Marlboro, NY 12542. Refreshments and light food will be served.

The TOMVAC building, historically significant as the original home of the Town of Marlborough Volunteer Ambulance Corps (TOMVAC), has undergone a significant transformation. Originally constructed approximately 50 years ago, the building was transferred to the town after the Volunteer Ambulance Corps could no longer maintain a sufficient volunteer crew to meet the community’s needs. Subsequently, the building served as a community and recreation center but eventually outgrew its initial capacity.

The recent expansion and remodeling were made possible by $800,000 in funding from various state-level grants. The renovation involved stripping the building down to its original shell and rebuilding it to better serve the community’s needs.
