Circleville celebrates U.S. 250th anniversary with patriotic parade

Last Saturday, residents from Circleville and neighboring communities gathered along State Route 302 for the hamlet’s biggest summer event: the Circleville Fire Department’s annual Fourth of July parade. The day’s intense heat did not deter attendees from boasting their patriotism and celebrating the United State’s 250th anniversary.

At 10 a.m., the parade stepped off from Pakanasink Elementary School, trotted down Goshen Turnpike and State Route 302, and convened at Circleville Park. The lineup featured several local businesses and organizations handing out candy and other goodies, marching bands performing traditional American songs, and first responder vehicles blaring their sirens and horns. Hordes of attendees watched and cheered from the roadside, proudly wearing the flag colors from head to toe.

The festivities continued in Circleville Park, where attendees enjoyed barbecue food and barrel train rides. Circleville Church also hosted its own barbecue later in the day, providing attendees with more food, fireworks, and family fun.
