Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Friday, September 13, Anthony Napoli, age 36, of New Windsor, was convicted after a jury trial in the Orange County Court of Robbery in the Third Degree, the sole charge against him. Napoli faces a mandatory prison sentence up to three and one half to seven years when he is next in court on November 26, 2024. Napoli was remanded back to the Orange County Jail without bail following the jury’s verdict.

As alleged at trial, on February 24, 2024 at approximately 2 p.m., Napoli entered the Valero gas station in the Town of New Windsor wearing a ski mask. Napoli then took a case of beer and attempted to flee without paying. When confronted by an employee of the gas station, Napoli punched him repeatedly about the head and fled from the scene on a bike. Members of the Town of New Windsor Police Department developed Napoli as a suspect and executed a judicially authorized search warrant at his residence. While executing the warrant, law enforcement recovered the clothing worn during the robbery. When Napoli was later arrested in the City of Newburgh, he was wearing the ski mask he wore during the commission of the robbery.

District Attorney Hoovler thanked the Town of New Windsor Police Department for their investigation which led to the arrest of Napoli. District Attorney Hoovler also thanked the City of Newburgh Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the investigation.

“The moral fabric of our community is torn on the backs of violent recidivists like this defendant,” said Hoovler. “
