Dukes finish third at indoor championships

The Marlboro Iron Dukes won the 800-meter relay and three individual events on their way to a third-place finish at the Section 9 Class B indoor track and field championships on Saturday at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The girls’ team won two events to tie for seventh with 28 points. Rondout Valley won the girls’ meet with 81 points.

Port Jervis won the boys’ meet with 78 points and Marlboro was third with 60 points. Highland was eighth with 29 points.

Marlboro’s Daniel Maher won the boys’ 300-meter dash with a time of 37.34 seconds and Sean Robertson won the pole vault, reaching 14 feet. Ndozie Okasi won the boys’ triple jump reaching 41 feet.

The 800-meter relay team of Maher, Robertson, Okasi and Connor Baxter posted a winning time of 1:38.82.

Juliana Juras won the girls’ shot put, reaching 33-01, and Victoria Maher won the weight throw, reaching 46 feet. Juras was second, reaching 40-11.25.

Daniel Maher was second in the boys’ 55-meter dash in 6.88 seconds.

Jaiden Sawyer was forth I the boys’ 55-meter hurdles in 8.97 seconds. Okasi also was fourth I the long jump, reaching 18-11. Kathryn Fakhoury was fourth in the boys’ weight throw, reaching 41-11.

Highland’s Ved Patel was second in the boys’ high jump, reaching 5-4. Basil Metz was third in the boys’ 600-meter run with a time of 1:29.28.

James Gescheidle was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.03 seconds. Cameron Adoma was sixth in the boys’ 1,000-meter run in 2:58.74. Maddox Thibault-Edmonds was sixth in the boys’ triple jump, reaching 35-10.00.
