The Marlboro Iron Dukes were in second place, two points behind the FDR Presidents when Saturday’s Mid Hudson Athletic League track and field championship meet was cut short due to excessive heat.

All events were completed with the exception of two pentathlon events for both the boys and the girls. It was unclear as of press time whether the pentathlon events will be completed.

As it stood on Saturday afternoon, the Presidents led the meet with 131 points with the Iron Dukes trailing with 129.

After three pentathlon events Marlboro’s Mark Pesano was in third place, eight points behind FDR’s Will Krumm. FDR’s Anthony Diaz was leading Pesano by 42 points.

The Highland Huskies were in 10th place.

Domenic Valentino led the Iron Dukes when he won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:22.92. He also was third in the 1,600 meters in 4:52.70.

Colin Robertson had a big day succeeding both on the track and in the field.

He won the pole vault, reaching 11-3 and was second in the 100-meter dash in 11.27 and second in the 200-meter dash in 22.93. Sam Lofaro was sixth in the 100 with a time of 11.72 and Chinedu Okasi was fifth in the 200 in 23.27.

Drew Heimink won the long jump, reaching 21-5.5 with Dylan Gunsett finishing seventh with a jump of 19-3. He also took second in the pole vault, reaching 11-0.

Trace Napoli won the boys’ shot put and was second in the discus throw, as the Iron Dukes were successful in both throwing events. Jose Iraola-Ceely was sixth in 107-11 and Doug Benfer was eighth in 104-11.

The 400-meter relay team of Robertson, Lofaro, Matt Drake and Chinedu Okasi were victorious with a time of 44.11. The 3,200-meter relay team of Alexis Camacho, Alex McAteer, Luca Benanti and Dante Valentino was fifth in 10:15.28. The 1,600-meter relay team of Dan Maher, Lofaro, Domenic Valentino and Gunsett was sixth in 3:51.38.

He reached 43-3.25 in the shot put and Benfer was third, reaching 41-0. Iraola-Ceely was fourth with a throw of 40-11.00

Chinedu Okasi was second in the triple jump, reaching 40-5.5.

Gunsett was eighth in the 400-yard dash in 53.52.
Robert Jackson was eighth in the boys’ 3,000 steeplechase in 12:34.36.

Highland’s Matthew Petty won the triple jump, reaching 41-4.5 and was second in the long jump, reaching 20-6.75.

The Huskies’ 400-meter relay team of Ryan Pikul, Joshua Kole Bishop, Petty and Jeaton Williams was sixth in 48.15.

Daiven Leath was seventh in the high jump, clearing 5-4.

Girls
Juliana Juras won both the shot put and the discus to lead the Marlboro girls’ team, which was in seventh place when the meet was stopped. Highland was in 13th.

Juras won the shot put, reaching 31-11.25 and the discus with a throw of 107-5. Victoria Maher was third in the discus in 102-10.

Juras and Napoli were both named Outstanding Throwers of the Meet.

Elizabeth Elizondo was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 13.57 and eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.05.

Emma Elizondo was eighth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:58.09.

Victoria Maher was eighth in the high jump, reaching 4-4.

The 400-meter relay team of Elizabeth Elizondo, Fallon Grace, Alivia Menser and Stephanie Petrie was fifth in 55.46 and the 1,600-meter team of Petrie, Grace, Khalia Moore and Emma Elizondo was sixth in 5:09.90.

Highland’s Margaret Petty was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.23 and seventh in the long jump reaching 14-10.5

Mollie Lass was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:27.00.

Erica Angelillo was eighth in the 3,000-meter run in 13:09.89.

The 400-meter relay team of Mia Clarke, Morgan Dunn, Julianna Hernandez and Petty was seventh in 58.39.
