Richard Taddei: Looking at Men

Wallkill River School and Gallery

Posted

Richard Taddei presents an exhibit of portraits and male nudes in oil, partially abstracted, and influenced by both classical painting traditions as well as modern sensibilities. Taddei creates a breathtaking contemplation of beauty, loss and love.

The public is invited to the artist’s reception on February 12, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Please plan to wear a mask while inside the gallery. Join us for a unique art reception: Fire & Ice. Take in the current exhibits, meet the artists and enjoy hot beverages and toasting marshmallows outdoors around warm braziers, weather permitting. Free and open to the public.

Taddei elaborates, “As a gay artist, my artistic preoccupation must unashamedly be the male nude. Resurrecting the erotic pose of a “sleeping satyr,” the universally recognized martyr “St. Sebastian,” or the iconic pose of a “river god,” is to continue a tradition of male eroticism in the fine arts.”

Taddei currently lives in the Village of Montgomery and WRS is pleased to welcome this neighbor as a first-time exhibitor in their historic gallery space.
