Happy 20th Anniversary

I would like to congratulate the Southern Ulster Times on its 20th anniversary. I am honored to be among the original staff members of the newspaper when it launched in December 2003 to cover the towns of Lloyd, Marlborough and Plattekill. From an unknown entity, we built something special out of that small storefront office on Main Street in Milton.

It brings me joy to know that the Southern Ulster Times is still thriving and remains committed to quality journalism. Local newspapers are an integral part of any community, informing citizens of issues that affect their daily lives, recognizing people for their accomplishments and providing a forum for a respectful exchange of ideas. When I began my journey as a professional journalist with the Southern Ulster Times, that was my goal each week.

My three and a half years spent at the paper is time I will always treasure. I met many wonderful people and learned an immense amount. When I visit the area each year, I see what has stayed the same and what is new. That combination of familiarity and progress is comforting. I also can still remember every back road!

Congratulations again to the staff of the Southern Ulster Times and Times Hudson Valley Media on this significant milestone. I am glad to be a small part of its history.
