Marlboro High School thrower and graduate Jose Iraola-Ceely was awarded a $1,000 Section 9 Track & Field Hall of Fame Scholarship.

It was presented by the Section 9 Track and Field officials at Marlboro High School.

He was awarded the scholarship based on success in school and on the track. He’s been a standout thrower for the Iron Dukes for several years.

He finished his senior season with an 18th place finish in the boys’ hammer throw, reaching 181.5, which set a personal best and a new Marlboro High School record.

He finished sixth in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Division 2 shot put with a throw of 48.8.5 and 14th in the Division 2 state discus with a throw of 129.4.

He was also a Section 9 Class C champion in the shot put and discus and a Mid Hudson Athletic League champion in both events.
