Kathleen Frances Gibbons

Kathleen Frances Gibbons peacefully cast aside this mortal coil, surrounded by her children and good music, on Sunday, October 18th 2026. Planet Earth had revolved 67 times with her on it, dancing in space not unlike how Kathy moved on the dance floor.

Kathy was born November 21, 1958, to Thomas Martin Neville and Alice Mary Neville in New York City. She was 7 of 9 children; Thomas, Joanne, Ellen, Peter, and Christine caught the train ahead of her and have just pulled out a bar stool and ordered her a cold beer at Saint Pete’s Pub. Her loving ex-husband Patrick Gibbons and her siblings Alice Mary, Betty, and William are still here to tell the tales of Kathy to those who were not blessed to know her.

A reliever of suffering, an easer of sorrow, Kathy worked hard to help others whether it was on the clock as a Registered Nurse or off the clock as a caring human being devoted to her family and friends. She was passionate about gardening, her fish, a plethora of furry family members, and the act of loudly insulting people with subpar driving abilities. She was an amazing maternal figure to her own children and to the children of others. She could be both warmly nurturing and fiercely aggressive.

Most mothers would not allow their cinema-obsessed teenage son to use her house to film a friend throwing handfuls of mashed potatoes while wearing a Boy Scout shirt, green skirt, red bra, and a toilet seat. But most mothers are not Kathy Gibbons.

Most mothers could not be found prowling the street fiercely gripping a baseball bat looking for whoever had hurt her son. But most mothers are not Kathy Gibbons.

Her story lives on in her sons Rick and Terrence, daughter-in-law Iris, and grandchildren Evelyn and Johnny.

Viewings will be at Millspaugh Funeral Directors, 22 Bank Street, Walden NY 12586 on Thursday, October 22nd from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM and Friday, October 23rd from 1-3 PM.

Kathy loved supporting charities for children’s cancer research, detox patients, and cat rescue. And if you have a charity that you love supporting, I’m sure Kathy would love that too.

Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
