Lloyd implements paid parking along Haviland Road

Posted

The Town of Lloyd has begun charging for on-street parking along Haviland Road, including the lower gravel lot at 89 Haviland Road, located just beyond the entrance to Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. However, parking in the upper lot adjacent to the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Caboose at 70 Haviland Road remains free of charge.

Residents of the Town of Lloyd can register their vehicles with the Town Clerk to be exempt from these parking fees. Non-resident visitors to the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park are advised to follow the instructions on posted signage to avoid potential fines.

For more information about the use of revenue generated from parking fees and details on registering vehicles, visit the Town of Lloyd’s official website.

The Town Board passed a resolution in August 2020 approving the Pay to Park program for non-resident vehicles parked along specific sections of Haviland Road and the 100 Haviland Road parking lot (lower lot). The funds are needed to maintain and improve the Rail Trail, roads, and parking lots, which have so far been supported by taxpayers.

These funds will be used to rebuild, replace, improve, and maintain the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, its amenities, and parking areas.

To register for an exemption, residents must provide their vehicle registration and a utility bill, property tax bill, or other document showing their name and address to the Town Clerk’s office.
