Marlboro’s Juras wins state discus title

Marlboro’s Juliana Juras won the Division 2 state championship in the discus at Friday’s New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship meet on Friday and Saturday at Faller Field in Middletown.

She won the event with a throw of 132-10, which was five inches further than second-place finisher, Kiersten Alling of Greenwich, who reached 127-0.

She came back on Saturday for the combined championship, finishing third with a throw of 134-9.

Juras was 14th in the shot put with a throw of 30-4.75.

Jose Iraola-Ceely was sixth in the Division 2 shot put with a throw of 48-8.5. He finished 14th in the Division 2 discus with a throw of 129-4.

Boys
The Iron Dukes’ 400-meter relay team of Colin Robertson, Daniel Maher, Sean Robertson and Drew Heimink finished 10th with a time of 43.83 seconds.

Colin Robertson finished 12th in the Division II 100-meter dash with a time of 11.17 seconds. Robertson also took 17th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.12 seconds.

Sean Robertson tied for 20th in the pole vault with Bronxville’s Max Dicker by reaching a height of 12-6.

Heimink was seventh in the Division 2 long jump, reaching 21-10, and 12th in the Division 2 triple jump, reaching 41-9.50.
