Montgomery to host trunk or treat on Saturday

The Town of Montgomery Bulk Drop-off will be held on  Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 at the Town Garage, 300 River Road. The time is 8:30 to 2:30 and the fee is $20.00 per car, cash only. ID to prove residency is required at permit purchase (at the Town Clerk’s Office)  AND an ID at the  drop off location. There will be a Blood Drive  on October 31 sponsored by the Town of Montgomery. For all the theater goers and romantics out there, the VC Shakespeare Club presents Romeo & Juliet. It will be held on October 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. at the VC High School Auditorium. Admission is free but donations are welcome! No reservations needed and some of the material may not be suitable for children under 13. 

I recently watched a new good Hallmark movie, Falling Together that had the main character gathering up people to participate in a Walk to End Alzheimers walk. So it inspired me to seek out walks in our area. I have also seen signs for the Walkway Over the Hudson Dutchess County walk on Saturday, October 19. Here there will be one at Benedict Park on Saturday, October 26, contact Tina at 845-471-2619 or email Tmeckert@alz.org.

Holiday Craft Fair season is right around the corner so mark your calendars so as not to miss any of these fun events. On November 9 at the Coldenham Firehouse they will have 2 rooms bursting with vendors at their Holiday Craft Fair. It will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse located at 511 Coldenham Rd., right off of Rt. 17 K. There will be raffles, a 50/50 and refreshments for sale. Then on November 23 the Valley Central Scholarship Council will have their annual Holiday Craft Fair at the High School.

The 9th annual Orange County Farm and Toy Show will be held Saturday, November 2. It will be held at the Maybrook Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $3.00, kids 5 and under are free. There will be vendors selling new and used toys, parts, memorabilia, and gift items. There will also be displays of collections. Call 845-695-1763 or ebush@frontiernet.net. Any Jets fans out there? The Valley Central PTSA has a “Discounted  Ticket Offer”. The games are October 31, November 17, December 1 and December 2. This is a benefit for VCHS PTSA. To purchase tickets visit: Jetsgroups.com/VCHS.

The Senior Citizens Advisory Board (formerly the Montgomery Senior Center Advisory Board), in conjunction with the Village of Maybrook, will host its annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, November 14,  between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The Luncheon is FREE and will be held at the Village of Maybrook Senior Center, located at 2 Senior Way, Maybrook. All Veterans are welcome, however, seating is limited to the first 100 people.  As a result, we encourage you to sign up early. Please call 845-260-4475 to register.

I just returned tired and sunburned  from the semi annual Village of Montgomery Yard Sale Day. What a great event! We get to buy and sell and meet a lot of nice people.
