The Town of Newburgh went 1-2 in the District 19 Majors softball tournament and were eliminated on Wednesday, when they were beaten, 27-6, by Monroe-Woodbury at Otisville Little League.
A win would have advanced the Town of Newburgh to the tournament championship bracket.
Competing in Bracket A, Town of Newburgh opened the tournament with a 19-1 loss to Cornwall, which scored nine runs in the first inning as they banished Town of Newburgh to the consolation bracket on June 17 at the Town of Wallkill.
They added six more runs in the second inning and four runs in the third.
Newburgh scored a run in the first inning in a game that was called after three innings by the 10-run rule.
The Town of Newburgh staved off elimination on June 18 at Otisville with a 1-0 win over Greenwood Lake.
