Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Monday, May 2, Carlos Rivera, 49, of Newburgh, pled guilty in Orange County Court to all of the counts of the indictment against him, including Murder in the First Degree. Rivera’s plea came during the jury selection phase of the trial against him and his co-defendant.

The District Attorney’s Office will continue the prosecution of Cornelius Stubbs, 48, the co-defendant at trial.

The two men had been indicted for murder, two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The men were charged with breaking into the Knox Village apartment of the ex-girlfriend’s sister with guns a blazing, shooting the brother of the two sisters in the arm and fatally shooting the brother’s girlfriend, 21-year-old Chelsea Debidin of Walden.

The woman who had been targeted, was the mother of one of Stubbs’ children.
