Several Town of Newburgh-New Windsor baseball teams are having success in the District 19 tournament.

The Town of Newburgh-New Windsor 10U minors team finished last week one win away from playing for a District 19 championship as they posted three wins.

They were scheduled to visit Pine Bush in Warwick on Sunday. A win there would put them in Thursday’s championship game. A loss would send them to the elimination bracket game on Wednesday in Montgomery.

Newburgh’s 11U team found itself two wins away from the championship when this week began, as they won four games last week, only suffering a loss to Warwick.

They were scheduled to play Warwick on Sunday in what would be a championship game for Warwick. Newburgh needed a victory on Sunday to play for the championship on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Majors team won three of its four games last week and found itself in the elimination half of the championship bracket. Cornwall, who owns the only win over Newburgh, awaited in a championship game scheduled for Tuesday.

Newburgh would have needed wins in Sunday’s game against Port Jervis and Monday’s game against Washingtonville to get a rematch with Cornwall. If they reach the first championship game, they would need two wins to capture the flag.
