Newburgh plans West Parmenter cleanup and code effort

The City of Newburgh will conduct a coordinated neighborhood cleanup and code enforcement initiative Friday, Oct. 30, along West Parmenter Street between Mill Street and Clark Street.

The effort comes after drug-related arrests in the corridor Oct. 13 led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to the city.

City departments will document property maintenance violations, issue abatement notices where necessary, clean sidewalks and sweep streets. The Water Department also will distribute lead service line inspection notifications and repaint fire hydrants.

A city-provided dumpster will be available for residents, and a command post will be established on West Parmenter Street.

The Newburgh Police Department also will continue neighborhood policing and quality-of-life enforcement in the area, the city said.

Residents are reminded to comply with temporary parking restrictions posted for street sweeping and to keep properties free of debris.

Property complaints can be reported to the Department of Code Compliance at 845-569-7400 or through SeeClickFix.
