Newburgh seeks input on Liberty Street reconstruction

Posted

The City of Newburgh is seeking input from residents and business owners along Liberty Street between Renwick Street and Ann Street as planning continues for the Liberty Street Reconstruction Project.

City staff began distributing door hangers Thursday, Oct. 29, to properties in the project area. The outreach is intended to schedule site visits during which the project team will document property access points and utility information. Informational mailers also are being distributed.

Property owners and residents who receive the materials are encouraged to contact the project team by Wednesday, Nov. 11, to schedule a site visit.

The project is part of the city’s Long-Term Combined Sewer Overflow Control Plan and is intended to reduce combined sewer overflows into the Hudson River while replacing aging drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure beneath the roadway.

After the utility work, Liberty Street will be reconstructed with a more pedestrian-friendly, ADA-compliant streetscape.

The project team can be reached at 934-261-0154. More information is available at Libertystreetreconstruction.com.
