NW looking to hire more police

Since 2020, the New Windsor Police Department has experienced 10 officer retirements over the course of the past several years. Each of the officers that have retired have had long tenures within the department. New Windsor is now potentially seeking to fill seven officer vacancies.

The Town of New Windsor, according to Town Supervisor George Meyers, looks to hire officers of the Orange County officer list to potentially join their department. Several officers have also indicated retiring this year.

“Almost every [police] department in Orange County is looking for people. We always make sure that our officers have the equipment to do their job, and to get them home safely,” said Meyers. “We do not cut any corners with equipment and training and we never miss a training opportunity.”
