NW meets with potential Stewart developer

Posted

Property at Stewart International Airport was previously slated for a hotel and medical facilities to be constructed. Due to the COVID pandemic, the owners of the property, the Simone Group, have met with the Town of New Windsor to seek alternative usage for the land.

According to New Windsor Town Supervisor George Meyers, the Simone Group leadership met with him and discussed alternative usage for the land. Meyers brought to the town board that with the proximity of Interstate 84 to Stewart Airport, the possibility of new warehouses would be the most probable if the town were to pursue this sort of venture. With warehouses at the airport site, trucks would not have any impacts to the local traffic.

Councilman Stephen Bedetti mentioned during the work session about the sewer and water infrastructure that would need to be reviewed and would potentially need upgrading. Meyers addressed the comment by stating that it would be the responsibility of the owner to oversee the remediation and upgrades.
