Pine Bush junior, minors advance in District 19

The combined 50/70 Intermediate team from Monroe-Woodbury, Middletown and Town of Wallkill Little Leagues won the section 3 championship on Thursday night with its second straight win over District 20 champion Elmsford at Davidge Park in Middletown.

After blistering their way through the District 19 tournament, the team won two straight games from Elmsford, winning 25-0 on Wednesday before sealing the championship with Thursday’s victory.

The team will move on to the New York State tournament, which was scheduled to begin on Monday at Half Hollow Hills Little League in Dix Hills, Suffolk County.

The tournament will be played in a double-elimination format, with championship games scheduled to be played on Saturday.

Pine Bush minors are one win away from the District 19 championship game, while the Pine Bush junior advanced to the championship game, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Pine Bush cooled off Warwick with an offensive outburst of its own, posting a big win on July 2 at Minisink.

Pine Bush posted 12 runs in the second inning and the game was called after three innings due to the 15-run rule.

Pine Bush 8, Cornwall 1
Pine Bush scored seven runs in the first three innings to clinch the Bracket A championship on Wednesday in Port Jervis.

Cornwall scored its only run in the fourth inning and Pine Bush added a run in the sixth inning.

Montgomery opened the tournament with a loss to Warwick on Wednesday in Otisville.

Montgomery (2) 14, Otisville 10
Montgomery rebounded from Wednesday’s loss with a four-run win over Otisville on Thursday night in Pine Bush.

Otisville led 7-5 midway through the third inning before Montgomery scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.

Washingtonville 18, Wallkill Area 5
Wallkill Area was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday in Otisville by a loss to Washingtonville.

Pine Bush scored two runs in the first inning on their way to a win over Middletown to open championship bracket play on Friday in Warwick.

Pine Bush advanced to Sunday’s game against Town of Newburgh-New Windsor to play for a berth in Thursday’s championship games.

Pine Bush opened the tournament with a shutout loss to Cornwall on July 1 at Port Jervis.

Pine Bush bounced back quickly on July 2 at Goshen when they defeated Middletown to stave off elimination.

Warwick 1, Montgomery 0
Montgomery was eliminated from the tournament by a loss to Warwick on July 2 in Goshen.

Monroe-Woodbury 5, Pine Bush 4
Pine Bush rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Monroe-Woodbury scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the top of the seventh to eliminate Pine Bush from the tournament on Wednesday in Goshen.

Pine Bush took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning, but Monroe-Woodbury scored three in the third and one more in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.

Wallkill Area 11, Town of Wallkill 0

Wallkill Area opened the tournament on July 1 with a shutout victory over Town of Wallkill at Pine Bush.

Otisville 5, Town of Wallkill 4
Town of Wallkill was eliminated from the tournament by a loss to Otisville on July 2 in Warwick.

Washingtonville 16, Wallkill Area 0

Washingtonville scored 11 runs in the third inning as they shut out Wallkill Area in a game that was called after three innings by the 15-run rule on July 3 in Warwick.

Wallkill Area was sent to the elimination bracket.

Wallkill Area 11, Goshen 3
Wallkill Area erased a three-run Goshen lead with four runs in the third and another seven in the fourth to post a victory on Wednesday in Warwick.
Wallkill Area eliminated Goshen from the tournament.

Otisville 16, Wallkill Area 6
Wallkill Area fell behind by 10 runs early and were eliminated from the tournament on Friday in Middletown.

Pine Bush 14, Minisink 4
Pine Bush took a 10-0 lead after the first four innings in a win over Minisink on Wednesday in Otisville.

The game was called after six innings due to the 10-run rule. Finn Gandolfini doubled, drove in three runs and added two runs scored and Maddox Miranowicz had a hit and three RBIs. Jason Gorman had a hit and two RBIs.

Pine Bush 9, Cornwall 6
Pine Bush picked up three key insurance runs to beat Cornwall on Friday in Middletown.

The win put Pine Bush in Monday’s championship game against the winner of Sunday’s game between Cornwall and the winner of Saturday’s game between Monroe-Woodbury and Otisville.

Maddox Miranowicz had two hits and two RBIs for Pine Bush. Liam Tuttle had a hit, and two RBIs and Jason Gorman also had a hit and two RBIs.

Easton Vellenga went 4.1 innings.

MW-Middletown-Town of Wallkill 25, Elmsford 0
The combined team from Monroe-Woodbury/Middletown/Town of Wallkill opened the best 2-of-3 Section 3 tournament with a blowout win over Elmsford on Wednesday in Davidge Park in Middletown.

MW-Middletown-Town of Wallkill 7, Elmsford 0

The combined team continued to roll through intermediate play with a shutout win over Elmsford on Thursday at Davidge Park in Middletown.

Wallkill Wildcats 21, Pine Plains Yankees 2
Wallkill Wildcats 13, Pine Plains Yankees 2
The Wildcats scored at least seven runs in all three innings to blow out the Yankees in Game 1 on their way to a doubleheader sweep on Saturday in Wallkill. The game was called by the 10-run rule after 3 ½ innings.

The Panthers broke a 2-2 tie in the second inning with four runs and then added seven more in the third inning for a four-inning victory by the 10-run rule in Game 2.

The Bulldogs swept a doubleheader from the Panthers on July 2 at Wallkill Area Little League.

A fter winning the first game, the Bulldogs scored eight runs in the first inning to take command and run off to a seven-run lead in the second game.

Wallkill 14, Mid-Hudson Tigers 5
Wallkill split a doubleheader with the Mid-Hudson Tigers on Saturday in Wallkill.

The Tigers took a 10-0 lead in the first game before Wallkill got on the board with a run in the fourth inning. Wallkill added a run in the fifth inning and four more in the bottom of the sixth.

Wallkill rebounded in the second game, taking a 7-1 lead after three innings and cruised to victory. The Tigers closed Wallkill’s lead to three runs in the fourth, but Wallkill scored seven runs in the sixth inning.

Kent White Sox 2, Wallkill Panthers 1
The Kent White Sox and Wallkill Panthers were locked in a pitcher’s duel on July 1, but the White Sox scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to score a one-run victory at Wallkill Area Little League.

Pine Bush Rebels 12, Wallkill Panthers 4
The Pine Bush Rebels scored three runs in the fourth inning to break a 4-4 tie and then added five runs in the fifth inning to cruise to a victory on Friday in Wallkill.

Wallkill Panthers 10, Westchester Elite (3) 0
Wallkill pitching limited the Westchester Elite to two hits on Saturday to cruise to a shutout victory in Wallkill.

One Wallkill pitcher went the distance with 11 strikeouts.
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, added one in the third and added seven runs in the fifth and sixth inning to cut the game short after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Westchester Elite (3) 7, Wallkill Panther 3

The Westchester Elite scored five runs in the sixth inning to erase the Wallkill Panther’s 3-2 lead and pull away for victory on Saturday in Wallkill.

The Elite took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and Wallkill took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

Westchester closed the lead to 3-2 in the fourth inning before rallying in the sixth.

Pine Bush Rebels 7, Blue Sox 5
Timmy Trojahn drew a walk, breaking a 4-4 tie as the Pine Bush Rebels defeated the Blue Sox on June 30.

Logan Miller had two hits and an RBI for the Rebels, and Tyler Ingalls drove in a run.

Hudson Valley Heroes 8, Wallkill Panthers 5
Wallkill Panthers 11, Hudson Valley Heroes 1

The Wallkill Panthers split a doubleheader on July 1 with the Hudson Valley Heroes.

Troy Fontana had a hit and two RBIs in the first game for the Panthers, while Conor Kelly and Declan Gardner each had a hit and an RBI.

The Panthers scored three runs in the first and five more in the second on their way to a 10-run, five-inning win in Game 2. Quincy Rogers had a hit and two RBIs for the Panthers and Kelly drove in two runs. Gardner also had two RBIs.

Blue Sox 13, Wallkill Panthers 1
The Blue Sox scored eight runs in the last two innings to score a 12-run win over Wallkill on Wednesday at the Wallkill Area Little league filed.

Bradyn Nicoli and Quincy Rogers had the only hits for Wallkill. Rogers scored their lone run.

Mid-Hudson Tigers 2, Wallkill Panthers 1
Ben Dotort threw a three-hitter, leading the Wallkill Panthers to victory in the first game of a doubleheader as they split with the Mid Hudson Tigers on Saturday in Wallkill.

Anthony Daley doubled twice and drove in three runs. Declan Gardner had a hit and drove in a run. Troy Fontana and Nick Strobach also had RBIs.

The Tigers scored two runs in the fourth inning as they beat the Panthers in the second game.

Daley drove in Wallkill’s lone run. Lane Kulynych went the distance on the mound for Wallkill with eight strikeouts.

Wallkill Panthers 12, Hardball 4
Dom Cipriani had two hits and two RBIs as the Wallkill Panthers beat Hardball on July 1 in Dobbs Ferry.

Bryce Hollo had two hits, including a triple and drove in a run. Drew Hollo had two hits and two runs scored. Julian Butcher struck out five batters for the win.

Wallkill Panthers 6, Heat 5
The Heat scored two runs in the first inning and added another in the sixth to beat the Panthers in the first game of a doubleheader. Wallkill won the second game to earn a split.

Wallkill’s Niko Mandich and Aidan Badendyck each had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers.

Bryce Hollo doubled home Mikey Bonagura with what turned out to be the game-winning run in the fifth inning as the Panthers beat the Heat in the second game. Julian Butcher had a hit and an RBI and Kaen Smith drove in a run. Kody Best doubled and scored three runs.

Bonagura got the win on the mound with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
