The Montgomery and Pine Bush Major All-Star teams collided in the lower half of the championship bracket on Saturday in Port Jervis.

The winner advanced to the second game of a planned doubleheader against the loser of the upper bracket game between Middletown and Port Jervis.

The winners of the first upper bracket game and the second lower bracket game were scheduled to meet on Sunday. Montgomery and Pine Bush, both of which needed to win Sunday to force a decisive championship game on Monday.

Results were not available by press time.

Montgomery was opened the week in the lower half of Bracket A but posted three wins last week to the championship round, finishing on Wednesday with an 18-8 win over the Town of Newburgh-New Windsor. The win avenged the previous week’s 13-2 loss to Newburgh-New Windsor.

Montgomery also beat Port Jervis and Monroe-Woodbury.
Pine Bush was sent into the lower half of Bracket B losing, 4-2, to B champion Warwick. Pine Bush then routed Cornwall, 13-2 to advance.

The Pine Bush seniors are on their way to possibly repeating as District 19 champions as they won three straight and was scheduled to face the winner of Sunday’s game between Wallkill Area and Cornwall.

Pine Bush has already played both teams, sending both to the elimination bracket, beating Cornwall on Thursday and then beating Wallkill Area on Saturday to advance to the flag game.

Wallkill Area opened the tournament on Wednesday with a win over Washingtonville, setting up the meeting with Pine Bush, which only needed one win to capture the championship.
