Pine Bush Rebels win a pair of games

Local teams began to cruise toward the end of the Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League regular season last week.

The regular season is scheduled to end Wednesday, with the playoffs to begin this week and conclude next week.

Naturals White 9, Wallkill Wildcats 7

Wallkill Wildcats 10, Naturals White 7 (7 innings)
The Wallkill Wildcats split a doubleheader with the Naturals White on July 16.

The Naturals scored four runs each in the second and fourth innings to score a two-run victory in the first game. Wallkill scored three runs in the third inning, and scored single runs in the first, second, fifth and sixth innings. The only inning they didn’t score was the fourth.

The Wildcats broke a 7-7 tie with three runs in the seventh inning to beat the Naturals in Game 2 in extra innings. The Wildcats took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but the Naturals scored four in the bottom of the sixth to force an extra inning.

Wallkill Wildcats 8, HV Select 7

The Wallkill Wildcats scored five times in the sixth inning to pull out a win over the Hudson Valley Select on Thursday at New Windsor Little League.
After a 1-1 first inning, the Select scored three in the second inning to take the lead. Wallkill closed the gap to one run in the third, but the Select added three in the bottom of the fifth to take a 7-3 lead.

Pine Bush Rebels White 12, Black Dirt Barnstormers 6
The Pine Bush Rebels trailed by a run heading into the fifth inning when the offense exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning.

The Rebels had scored 10 more in the sixth inning, but the game was called in the top of the sixth inning and the final score reverted to the score at the end of the fifth inning.

Pine Bush Rebels White 10, Marlboro Marlins 2
The Pine Bush Rebels rode a six-run second inning to a win over the Marlboro Marlins on Thursday at Crawford Town Park.

The Marlins took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Justin Cavanagh scored on a wild pitch.

After Pine Bush scored six runs in the second inning, they added a run in the third inning on a wild pitch. The Rebels added three more runs in the fifth. Cavanagh scored Marlboro’s second run on a wild pitch.

New Paltz Hawks 10, Wallkill Panthers 0
The Panthers were no-hit on July 17 in a loss to the New Paltz Hawks who got the jump on them quickly with five runs in the first inning and three more in the second inning. 

Two New Paltz pitchers combined for the no-hitter.

New Paltz Hawks 19, Wallkill Panther 1

The New Paltz Hawks scored 13 runs in the top of the fourth inning to beat the Wallkill Panther on Wednesday in New Paltz.

The game was called after four innings by the 10-run rule.

New Paltz took a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Wallkill tied the game with one in the second inning. New Paltz took charge with five runs in the third inning.

Wallkill Panthers 11, Hudson Valley Heroes 1
The Wallkill Panthers split a doubleheader with the Hudson Valley Heroes on Saturday in Staatsburg.
The Heroes scored eight runs in the first inning to take a five-run lead but were held scoreless until the sixth inning, as the Panthers tied the game after five innings. However, the Heroes outscored the Panthers 5-3 to win the game.

Anthony Daley had a hit and four RBIS, while Conor Kelly had three hits and four RBIs.
The Panthers had a smoother run in the second game, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding another four in the fourth inning.

Daley doubled and drove in two runs, while scoring two and Ben Dotort had a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
