On March 28,  at 9:07 a.m., City of Newburgh Police officers were investigating an incident in the area of Gidney Ave. and N. Robinson Ave.

Officers observed a male in the area of 245 Third St who matched the description of the suspect.

Officers detained the suspect (later identified as Miguel Cruz-Nava, a 26-year-old Newburgh resident) pending further investigation and located a Ruger Model EC9 semi-automatic pistol that contained nine bullets in his waistband.

The firearm had been reported stolen from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Cruz-Nava was ultimately charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, which is a Class C Felony.
