Politically violent threats won’t work

Trump is turning up the heat on the campaign trail. He is attempting to strike fear in the hearts and minds of the American electorate by his warning of a nationwide bloodbath if he loses the 2024 election to President Biden. He is once again preaching political violence that he believes will improve his chances of an election win. Even before this amplified violent vitriol, at earlier campaign rallies Trump spewed that widespread bedlam would break out if his criminal charges caused his election loss to President Biden. All this violent talk and threatening intimidation may arouse his base, firming up his support but it will, in my view, turn away any undecideds, independents and moderates who see this as Trump’s failing campaign tactics.

Americans’ electoral preferences will not be dictated by the violent rants of a despicable wannabe despot. Much of America believes deeply and religiously in democracy. Trump clearly underestimates that fact. Democracy will never take a back seat to fear-mongering. I firmly believe a significant majority of Americans will make sure Democracy takes its rightful place when it casts its ballot in November’s presidential election.
