Newburgh City Council on Monday, January 8 unanimously approved an electrical contract with J & J Sass Electric, Inc in the amount of $835,000 for electrical construction and a contract with engineering firm Clark Patterson Lee (CPL) in the amount of $178,000 for construction administration services. The CPL contract, according to City Engineer Jason Morris, would be funded under American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

The firm CPL has been tasked with bringing the new aquatic center to reality for the city which closed in 2020. The aquatic center remained closed and has since needed extensive repairs. City council members later joined in September 2023 to officially put golden shovels in the ground to mark the groundbreaking for a new center that is anxiously awaited. The site today has now undergone various periods of demolition and clearing of materials and the new aquatic center will see final completion in the summer of 2025.
