Serious motorcycle accident closes Route 17K

Town of Newburgh Police and EMS responded to a serious accident involving a motorcycle and another vehicle, Friday June 28, on State Route 17K and Burger King. Winona Lake Fire Department also responded. The incident was reported at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found the motorcyclist on the ground. EMS requested a Medevac, and Good Will Fire Department set up a landing zone in the Lowes parking lot. Route 17K was closed during the incident.

The motorcyclist was transported to the landing zone and airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. A Town of Newburgh detective was called to take photographs.

Firefighters assisted with traffic control and spread Speedy Dry on the fluid spills. The State Police were also on scene. The Winona Lake Emergency Truck used its light tower to illuminate the area.

The Town of Newburgh Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
