Hudson Valley Storm wins a pair
The Hudson Valley storm swept a doubleheader from the Hudson Valley Raptors on Saturday at Wallkill Area Little League.

They won the first game 11-8 and the second game, 10-5.

The Storm fell behind 8-6 in the top of the fourth inning but scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth to win the game. The Storm took a 3-0 win and then the Raptors pulled to within a run.

After the Storm built a 6-2 lead and the Raptors scored six runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead.

The Storm jumped out first and then held off the Raptors in the second game for a win. The Storm led 6-0 before the Raptors scored four runs in the bottom of the third. The Storm added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to pull away for the victory.

Gardiner 5K is Thursday
The 22nd Annual Gardiner 5K Classic is scheduled for Thursday, July 18, starting and ending on Murphy’s Lane.

The scenic 5K race with rolling hills on paved highway and rail trail is to benefit the Gardiner Fire Department. Race proceeds will be used to make improvements to the firehouse.

Last year’s race drew approximately 200 participants.

The 5K begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Kids Fun Run and a barbecue.
